Did David and Victoria Beckham turn down a move to west London because of Tony Blair?

If it is true that David and Victoria Beckham have forked out £40 million for a palatial home in west London, it wasn’t before they had looked closely at a property in the environs of a less salubrious area.

“They seemed very interested in a townhouse in the square, but they apparently felt the cons outweighed the pros,” whispers one local resident who spotted them making several visits.

The “pros”, she explained, are the excellent security that comes with the very visible police presence. And the cons? “They’d have had Tony and Cherie as neighbours.”

Plane diverts to Heathrow after passenger dies in 'suspicious' circumstances on board

A KLM plane had to be diverted to Heathrow after a passenger was taken ill and then died on board. Police were treating the Boeing 777 as a crime scene on Monday night after the Amsterdam-bound plane from Lima was diverted after the medical emergency.
