The Rising Costs Of Holidaying Abroad - Gatwick Airport Holiday Magazine

While the introduction of new rates of airport passenger duty will not exactly break the bank, the trend for British holidaymakers to remain close to home has been growing in recent years.  Partly a mix of tight family budgets and perhaps, less available time off from work, the recession has seen a sharp drop in the long haul family holiday option.  The US as a destination has rapidly dropped from 2nd position amongst Britain’s favourite destinations to way down the list close to Australia.  However, traditional holiday hotspots in Europe have seen a rapid rise in popularity or in re-popularity.  Amongst these Spain and Portugal remain high on our list of favourite holiday destinations.
